About Dr. Gary

Born and raised in the metro Detroit area (Livonia), Gary moved to Chicago and Lombard, Illinois to attend National College of Chiropractic in 1963. After graduating in 1967, Southern California called to him and he practiced there for two years before returning to Michigan to assist his aging parents.

Shortly after arriving back in Michigan, he visited his professional mentor and met his new receptionist. Four months of a whirlwind courtship culminated in a February 1969 wedding. In May of 1970 Susan and Gary welcomed their daughter, Kirsten and in July of 1974, her sister Karin joined the family. Our family also includes a new generation - our two wonderful grandchildren - Alex and Padme.

During his 18 years of practice in Redford Township, Michigan a NW Detroit suburb, Dr. Gary worked with over 10,000 patients, while developing skills utilizing a large number of structural and nutritional techniques to the level of teaching many to other doctors, most notably “S.O.T.” (Sacro-Occipital Technique) and SOT Craniopathy.

Dr. Gary also studied Applied Kinesiology (“A.K.“), both with Dr. Goodheart and later through the 100-hour class and numerous Walter Schmidt seminars; and Applied Spinal Biomechanics (aka “Petttibon Technique“). Dr. Gary has now studied over 50 of the approximately 145 Chiropractic extant techniques, including Toftness, Thompson, Logan Basic, Upper Cervical Specific, Cox, Activator, Zindler, Crane, and Neural Organization Technique (N.O.T.) and others.

In the mid-seventies, Carolyn Walker joined the practice and jointly developed the largest nutritional practice in the State of Michigan. Carolyn now owns and operates a successful nutritional practice in Florida.

During this time period Dr. Gary learned about the benefits of incorporating the mental and emotional aspects of healthcare. Personal “burn-out” brought on by family tragedies made him acutely aware of the need to heal himself and his patients on multiple levels. There was not just ONE TRUTH. A technique incorporating structural, mental and emotional components known as Spinal Column Stressology initiated his search for knowledge in this area. This, in turn, led to learning additional techniques including:

Nutritional aspects were added through many post-graduate seminars, most recently through organizations such as Safe Harbor which deals with alternative approaches to mental and emotional health, and NeuroResearch, which deals with amino acid therapy.

In 1986, he brought his family back to Southern California and began and maintained a large multidisciplinary practice in Newbury Park for twelve years. After spending two years in retirement, he missed the patients and decided to begin practice anew.

In 1999, he was introduced to N.A.E.T. ("Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique"). This has been the practice's mainstay since that time, because it has allowed him to help many children, in addition to adults. It has been a safe, non-invasive process that has produced dramatic results and had a tremendous impact on their quality of life while dealing with a variety of health challenges. Children love coming to our office - it's very kid-friendly, and children are happy they won't get needles or drugs.

Dr. Gary has taught internationally for the NAET organization and is a member of the research committee. He has presented papers on research, which has led him to his current area of focus: the benefits of using NAET for mental and emotional health. This material is based on the past twelve years of NAET experience coupled with his more than forty-plus years of dealing with mental, emotional and physical healing. Dr. Gary is also a regular speaker, as well as one of the Masters of Ceremony,  at the NAET annual Symposia.

Because of his love and concern for children, Dr. Gary spent a great deal of time helping children with neuro-developmental disorders (such as autism, ADHD and learning disabilities) and their families. Of course, we are only part of the team of health care providers, but we have discovered that autism requires a team approach for successful intervention. To facilitate working with special needs children, Dr. Gary opened up the first Brain Balance Achievement Center in the U.S. There are now over 50 Centers in the U.S.

In 2011 Dr. Gary sold his Brain Balance Achievement Center and returned to private practice in Thousand Oaks, CA, on a part-time basis.  His focus continues to be on reducing inflammation, the major cause of most chronic conditions, and using NAET as one of his primary modalities.

For 20 years Dr. Gary and his wife Susan worked as a team. He took care of patients and she took care of everything else. With his retirement on the horizon, she decided to keep helping people, so she became a State Farm Insurance agent in Newbury Park in 1991. In addition to her duties as an agent who insures homes, autos and businesses, her accounting and MBA knowledge as well as a Chartered Life Underwriter helps people make the best financial choices.

She still gets to see the patients in the office, only now she's waiting with them for her turn to see "the best chiropractor on the planet!" (her words - she's been a loyal chiropractic patient for our 42 years together)!
